ConQuest Ski Retreat

Every year, several times a year, the ConQuest program hosts a ski retreat for boys.

On February 27th, 5 boys from Royalmont got to participate with boys from Indianapolis, Lexington and Dayton. The goal? To help form virtuous men. Of course, they played a lot of sports in the meantime.

What a great time! I asked my son to rank the weekend on a scale of 1 to 10. He didn’t hesitate. He gave it a perfect “TEN!”

How awesome is that! An opportunity to have fun, grow closer to Christ, be with lots of other great guys and skiing to boot. I wish I would have had these retreats when I was growing up. This is the positive peer pressure our kids need. Thank you so much for all involved in putting these retreats together and thank you Carl for the video.

Anytime young boys can be brought together with the guidance and support of Father Matthew Smoorenburg and brother Darren, great thing are going to happen and the boys will thrive. They are lifted up is so many ways and with focus of humility and charity, even in competitive sport and activity, every young man benefits.

Great job on all who helped with the weekend activities

Oh my! What great memories. It has been my pleasure to attend many Conquest retreats at the Weisbrod’s over the years with my two sons. I recognize the gym, basketball (well done Br. Darren!), football, skiing and dodgeball. Most important is the combination of faith formation, focus on virtues and spiritual guidance for these young men. Faith in Christ is what they need most in these formative years to battle this culture and the realization that other young men want to strive for that too. They are not alone.

Lastly, a testimonial. Our oldest son Jeff grew to love his faith at these camps with Fr. Matthew. So much so, that he discerned his calling to the priesthood very early on, and as a DIRECT result of this exposure to Conquest retreats. My wife Patty and I are so thankful for Conquest. Jeff is now in year three of his seminary life, after spending four years prior to that at the Legion of Christ’s apostolic school in New Hampshire. God is so good!

To all who may wonder, “are these retreats for my son?”, I say just think like Mary and say “Yes”!

My nephew had a great time at the retreat. I’ll make sure they see the video!

    God bless you!

This was really great to watch. With a couple of my own boys still too young to go on these retreats, I look forward to them having this type of opportunity. It is great to see a setting where boys can be boys – having fun, doing things they love like skiing and basketball – but also learning about what it means to grow in virtue. Thanks to everyone who helps put on these retreats.

    Carl,
Fr Scott just sent me the link. Great video! I am not sure who enjoyed the weekend more, me or the 4 boys I brought with me. Of course they were asleep in the car before we hit the interstate.
All of them enjoyed it and were still talking about it at our next ConQuest meeting.
